Safety on the Road

Do not waste time looking for your keys. Have them ready.
Check inside the vehicle, front and rear, before entering.
If possible, don't drive alone. There is safety in numbers.
Drive with doors locked and windows rolled up.
Don't pick up hitchhikers.
Avoid stopping at lonely, out-of-the-way or poorly lit places.
If you think you are being followed by another vehicle, stop at a gas station or grocery store where there are lots of people and sound the horn. Do not go to your home, or attempt to get out of the vehicle.
If your car breaks down and someone stops to assist you, remain in the locked vehicle, ask the person to call the police and wait. Do not accept a ride.
Park in a well-lit area.
Store valuables and packages out of sight in a locked trunk or glove compartment.
