In the interest of promoting safe motoring, the Basic Vehicle Maintenance course is offered free of charge to the Students, Faculty, and Staff of Sweet Briar College.

The Basic Vehicle Maintenance course coveres the following basic skills in automotive maintenance and repair.

Tires

• How to change a flat tire

• How to plug a hole in a tire

• How to gauge a tire for proper pressure

Checking Fluid Levels

• Water/Anti-freeze in the radiator 

• Motor oil

• Automatic transmission fluid level

• Windshield washer fluid level

• Power steering fluid

• Brake fluid

Battery

• Check battery cables 

• How to jump start a vehicle

How to troubleshoot minor electrical problems on the road

How to check and replace windshield wiper blades.
